Create a New Item in Inventory – Product You Sell

"Products you Sell" are added to inventory as items with defined selling prices, income accounts, and unit types. These items can be linked to POS, marked as favorites, and configured for tax and category tracking to streamline your sales and reporting process.


Step by Step:

1. Navigate to Inventory, then click Items.

2. Click Create Item.

3. Click Add Item.

4. Enter the product name in the Item Name field.

5. Fill in the Description field.

6. Under Item Type, select Product.

7. Choose Yes to indicate this is a product you sell.

8. Once Yes is selected, additional options appear:

  • Mark as Favorite: For quick access

  • POS: Enable for sale via the Point of Sale

9. Under Account, select the appropriate Income Account.

10. Choose or create the Item Category.

To add a new category, simply type the name in the field and press Enter to save.

11. Select the Unit of Measure (e.g., piece, kg, bottle).

12. Enter the Purchase Price.

Purchase Price: is a guide value. you can change on every bill each time you add this line item.

13. Enter the Selling Price.

Selling Price: is a guide value. You can change it on every invoice when you add this line item.

14. If you're registered for Sales Tax, select the applicable tax on Sales and Purchases.

15. Click Save to finalize the item.

NuMetric automatically maps product-related accounts — inventory is recorded under Assets – Inventory, and product costs under Expenses – COGS — saving you time during setup

⚠️ Important Note:
NuMetric's Standard Inventory module does not support stock management, weighted average costing, or automated Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) transactions. Users are responsible for manually calculating costs and recording COGS entries.

⚠️ Important Note:
Items created before activating the Inventory Plus Module are not stock-managed. This means their inventory movements, cost tracking, and stock levels will not be updated in real-time or reflected in COGS and asset calculations.
